Drinking Water Systems Version for the Canadian Federal Government.
In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of issues related
to very small drinking water systems, this course provides participants
with a full understanding of the Guidance for Providing Safe
Drinking Water in Areas of Federal Jurisdiction – the
new guidance document relating to drinking water systems.
WHAT IS IN THE PROGRAM?
This course provides owners and operators of drinking water systems
with a good understanding of:
- the nature of water
- the options for distribution and treatment
- the obligations for sampling and testing
- the federal government's multi-barrier approach to safe drinking
water
- the operational requirements essential to providing safe drinking
water
- the steps to take in case of various emergencies
The course is composed of twelve mandatory modules and two optional
modules:

Module 2 – Definition of Terms
Module 3 – What Can Go Wrong?
Module 4 – Federal Framework
Module 5 – About Water
Module 6 – Surveys, Assessments and Monitoring
Module 7 – Technical Standards, Benchmarks and Targets
Module 8 – Treatment System Design and Maintenance
Module 9 – Distribution System Design and Maintenance
Module 10 – Operational Requirements
Module 11 – Safety and Emergency Planning
Module 12 – Chlorination [optional]
Module 13 – Wells and Pumps Maintenance [optional]
Module 14 – Final Test
MOE APPROVED
The Federal version of this course been assessed by the Ontario
Environmental Training Consortium (OETC) and it meets the Ministry
of the Environment (MOE) criteria for Director Approved Continuing
Education under O.Reg. 128/04. Successful participants who complete
the Credit Course will receive 0.7 Continuing Education Units
(CEUs).
